Christmas tree anniversary – The Christmas Tree Farmers Association of New York will celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Christmas tree – the first tree was decorated in Riga, Latvia, in 1510 – with a special ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27. The Christmas Tree Farmers’ exhibit is adjacent to the Horticulture Building.
The 2010 New York State Fair will run from Aug. 26 through Sept. 6.
